Spicy Grilled Squid Skewers

Spicy Grilled Squid Skewers
These Korean Squid Skewers are one of our favourite quick grill recipes. The squid absorbs the Bibap Manufacture Sauce for Korean Squid beautifully, becoming tender, slightly spicy, and full of flavor. Paired with sweet cherry tomatoes and lightly charred zucchini, each skewer offers a bright mix of heat, freshness, and gentle smokiness.
What we love most is how effortless they are. A short marinade, a few minutes on the grill, and they’re ready to serve. Whether enjoyed on their own, with rice, or as part of a casual barbecue spread, they always bring colour and energy to the table.
Ingredients
Servings: 2-4 | Prep Time: 15 min | Cook Time: 8-10 min
- 300 g fresh or pre-cleaned squid, cut into rings or bite-sized pieces
1 small zucchini, sliced into half-moons
12–16 cherry tomatoes
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
1–2 spring onions, finely sliced
Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
4–6 skewers (soak wooden skewers for 10 minutes before grilling

Preparation
- We begin by preparing all the ingredients so the skewers come together easily. If we are using fresh squid, we clean it first and slice it into even pieces. If we are using pre-cleaned squid rings, we simply pat them dry so they grill well later. We then cut the zucchini into small half-moons and rinse the cherry tomatoes.
- In a bowl, we mix the squid with a few spoonfuls of Bibap Manufacture Sauce for Korean Squid and a splash of olive oil. We let the squid rest for about ten minutes so it can absorb the flavour.
- Next, we assemble the skewers. We alternate pieces of squid with slices of zucchini and whole cherry tomatoes, creating a colourful mix that cooks evenly on the grill.
- Once the skewers are prepared, we preheat the grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat. We place the skewers on the hot surface and grill them for a few minutes on each side until the squid turns opaque, the tomatoes soften slightly, and the zucchini picks up a gentle char. We watch them carefully so the squid stays tender.
- When the skewers are done, we drizzle a little sesame oil over them and sprinkle sliced spring onions and sesame seeds on top.
- We enjoy them hot, either on their own, with steamed rice, or as part of a fresh salad plate — simple, aromatic, and full of the bright, spicy flavours of the Bibap Korean Squid Sauce.
