Spicy Sweet Potato Fries
These spicy sweet potato fries are one of our favourite easy sides: crispy on the outside, tender inside, and full of warm, vibrant flavor. A touch of spice and a hint of sweetness make them irresistible, whether served with a dip or alongside any meal.
Ingredients
Servings: 2-4 | Prep Time: 10 min | Cook Time: 25-30 min
- 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into fries
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp Bibap Manufacture Gochujang (optional for extra heat)
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp chili flakes or Korean chili flakes (gochugaru)
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
1 tsp cornstarch (for extra crispiness)
Fresh parsley or spring onions for garnish (optional)
A squeeze of lime or lemon for serving (optional)

Preparation
- We begin by preheating the oven to 220°C (425°F) and lining a baking tray with parchment paper. This helps the fries crisp up without sticking.
- Next, we toss the sweet potato fries in olive oil. In a small bowl, we mix together paprika, garlic powder, chili flakes, salt, pepper, and a teaspoon of cornstarch. If we want them extra spicy, we whisk a little Bibap Gochujang into the oil before coating the fries. We sprinkle the seasoning over the potatoes and mix well until every piece is evenly coated.
- We spread the fries out on the tray, making sure they’re not overlapping so they roast evenly. They bake for about 25–30 minutes, and we flip them halfway through to help them brown on all sides.
- Once they’re golden and crisp around the edges, we take them out of the oven and let them rest for a minute. We finish them with a squeeze of lime or lemon and a sprinkle of fresh herbs if we like.
- They’re best served hot — perfect on their own, with a dipping sauce, or as a spicy, vibrant side to your favorite Korean-inspired dishes.
